What's Happening

Gary - Gary found a home! After 69 days and several adoption events, little Gary finally found a great home.

Willow - we were able to raise the money to treat her for heartworms. All the dogs we adopt, we take as we find them and get them healthy, vaccinated and chipped before adopting them out. It's nearly impossible to adopt dogs out that have health problems and are a couple years old.

A very nice young couple adopted Willow and will have enough to deal with between the vet visits for treatment. It'll be a three month ordeal for them. At least the vet costs are covered.

Other stuff

To do: Make summer holiday reservations. NOW :-)

Also, please keep your dog on a leash until they are inside the building or your vehicle. There is a city ordinance about dogs being leashed - and there are several little kids, squirrels, ducks and geese around the parking lot.

Training news

Next Basic Manners class: May 3rd

- SIGN UP NOW!

Basic / Puppy Class is our beginning class for dogs and puppies. The class is focused on positive training methods and encourage manners and safety. The basics are covered along with training methods that will help with future training.

OUR LAST CGC CLASS is MAY 11. Sign up now or never!
We will still evaluate and certify CGC dogs, but there will not be a dedicated class.

I passed the CPDT-KA exam in March. Yeah! It's administered through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Christina (our Head Trainer) and I are switching over to a new curriculum from the Association of Pet Dog Trainers that's focused on practical day to day interactions with dogs. There are 3 levels. We'll be starting those in July. Keep watching the website for new details of classes, workshops and new workshops!

Behavior problems are the number one killer for dogs in the United States. Every dog deserves to be trained. It doesn't come naturally - to them, or us.
